Of Audit Minions (and Why Are They Exploring?)

I never anticipated working in hospitality, and I certainly never intended to become a night auditor.

My parents were adamant. Make yourself available for any and all shifts EXCEPT graveyard.

My Bachelor's Degree is in film production, but for some reason I immediately started applying for every hotel desk agent job I could find straight out of college. It took six months, but eventually one GM decided to give me a chance. Five months later, desperation and opportunity led me to offer to work night audit. Our night auditor had just left and the GM was having a hard time finding a replacement. And, admittedly, I was desperate to work a shift that didn't require me to get up at 4am. It turned out that I really liked working overnight. Not to mention, a willingness to work overnight looks particularly good on a resume.

And, thus, the night audit minion was born.

Even before I sold my sold myself into the hospitality industry, I loved to travel. My father's company took everyone on frequent business trips to far away places-- Puerto Rico, Cabo San Lucas, Banff--so the love for traveling was instilled in me at a young age. I have been to Europe and the British Isles, as well as many of the states in my own country. Being a hotel employee feeds my travel beast by offering employees discounts at their hotels worldwide. And since becoming an employee of Hilton, I have been taking advantage of those discounts to explore.

And equal to my love for travel and exploring is my desire to learn and share my discoveries with those around me. So, here, we are, and this is my attempt at a travel journal.

Anyway, lots to do, places to see, people to meet, food to try! You're welcome to come along for the ride!

Peace out!
